What type of clients does ADHC serve?

How many days per week do participants attend?
What is the length of an “average day” at ADHC?
The scheduled program of activities goes from 9:00am – 2pm. Participants may begin arriving as early as 8:45 AM or leave as late as 2:30 PM. Schedules can vary depending on circumstances, but there is a 4-hour minimum required by some funding sources.
What about transportation to and from the program?
A variety of transportation methods are available. Free ADHC bus service is offered in most areas from Eureka to McKinleyville. Some participants come via private transport by family member or other care giver.
What funding sources does the program accept?
Medi-Cal, Veteran’s Administration benefits, Redwood Coast Regional Center, PACE and private payment are accepted.
For private pay participants, how much does the program cost?
It is $95/day to attend (minimum 2 days/week), with an additional one-time start-up fee of $95.
What age range do you serve?
Adults who are 18 or over. A wide range of ages are currently served by ADHC.
Are there safeguards to address wandering issues?
The Sun Room is equipped with alarms and other safety devices to insure participant safety.
Do I need to call ahead or have an appointment to see the program?
No need to call ahead. Tours are welcome anytime but are preferred between 10am and 1pm. as this allows a visitor to get a sense of center activities and atmosphere, when the program is fully in progress and many participants are present.
Where is ADHC located?
ADHC is located behind Mad River Hospital, in a separate building with clear signs above our entrances.
Commonly Asked Questions about Respite Services
Adult Day Health Care of Mad River offers Respite Services for anyone who does not wish to enroll in our full time day program or would just like to give it a try before enrolling. Respite Service is intended to provide short term relief for the primary caregiver and is not intended to replace IHSS or other paid caregiver hours.
Who qualifies for Respite Services?
We provide services for adults18 years and older, with a wide range of diagnoses and conditions including, but not limited to:

- traumatic brain injuries
- mental health issues
- serious chronic medical conditions
What is the cost for Respite Services?
Respite Services are a covered benefit for people enrolled in Partnership Health Plan. For those without this insurance, the cost is $33 per hour.
What are the hours for Respite Services?
Respite is available from 9:00am to 2:00pm Monday through Friday excluding some Holidays. Respite clients may attend from 1 hour to 5 hours during this time period.
Is transportation included in Respite Services?
Transportation to and from the program is not included for this service.
Is enrollment required or is this a drop in program?
Simply complete a short medical questionnaire to assure that we are able to meet your needs. Approval is generally confirmed within 5 business days. Confirm attendance no later than 3PM the day prior to schedule anticipated hours of attendance.
